Your voice recordings are stored locally on your device. We do not upload your audio to our servers by default. What you say stays with you.
We do not run AI models against your recordings. We do not analyze the content of what you say. Your words are yours alone.
We only collect what is necessary: your email address (for waitlist and account) and anonymized usage analytics to improve the product.
We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties for advertising or marketing purposes. Ever.
We collect minimal information required to provide the PastYou service.
Account & Waitlist Information When you join our waitlist or create an account, we collect your email address. This is used to send you product updates, early access invites, and service communications. You may unsubscribe at any time.
Usage Analytics We use PostHog to collect anonymized, aggregated analytics about how users interact with the app — such as which features are used and how often. This data does not include any personally identifiable information or the content of your voice recordings.
Error Reporting We use Sentry for crash reporting to help us fix bugs. Crash reports may include device type, operating system version, and app version. They do not include the content of your recordings.
Voice recordings (Echoes) are stored locally on your device. By default, PastYou does not upload your recordings to our servers.
If you choose to enable cloud backup in the future, you will be given clear, explicit consent steps before any recording leaves your device. This feature does not currently exist in PastYou.
We do not access, listen to, analyze, or process the content of your voice recordings. Your words are private.
We use the information we collect solely to:
• Provide and improve the PastYou app • Send you product updates and account communications (with your consent) • Fix bugs and improve stability through anonymized crash reports • Understand how features are used through anonymized analytics
We do not use your information for advertising, profiling, or selling to third parties.
We retain your email address and account data for as long as your account is active. If you request account deletion, we will delete your data within 30 days, except where we are required to retain it for legal purposes.
Voice recordings live on your device and are subject to your device's own storage and backup settings. Deleting the app will remove locally stored recordings.
Depending on your location, you may have the following rights regarding your personal data:
• Access – Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you • Correction – Request correction of inaccurate data • Deletion – Request deletion of your data • Portability – Request your data in a machine-readable format • Opt-out – Unsubscribe from communications at any time

PastYou is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we become aware that a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, we will delete it immediately.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will notify you by updating the date at the top of this page and, for significant changes, by sending a notice to your registered email address.
Your continued use of PastYou after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
